Situated 600 miles from
the coast, out in the Pacific Ocean, The Galapagos consist of 13 major
islands with many smaller ones. These volcanic islands emerged from
the Pacific Ocean around 6 million years ago. The islands are a haven
for Giant Tortoises, Marine Iguanas, Blue footed boobies, Albatross
and Frigate Birds. The animals here show no fear of man, as they have
never experienced man as a threat.
There are daily flights from Quito or Guayaquil to Baltra Island,
where your trip will commence.
