The
Galapagos Islands MV Santa Cruz 7 Night Cruise Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive by plane
on Baltra Island and transfer to the dock to board the MV Santa Cruz.
Today, visit Santa Cruz Island and Dragon Hill. Whilst exploring the
northern shore of Santa Cruz, it is possible to see various types
of birds including boobies, frigates and pelicans. The shallow water
gives the opportunity to see turtles, rays and sharks.
A landing and a walk will include a visit to a lagoon where you can
see flamingos, Pintail ducks and a variety of other lagoon birds.
Follow the trail to Dragon Hill which gives beautiful views of the
bay and The Galapagos. This is a nesting site for a large number of
Land iguanas.
Day
2 Bartolome Island and Puerto Egas
Today we will disembark at Bartolome Island and take a hike to the
summit, well worth the effort for the view that is rewarded. Then
down to the beach where you have the opportunity to snorkel with
Galapagos penguins or take a trip in a glass bottomed boat.
In the afternoon we will visit Puerto Egas, a great location to
see shore birds, and a trail to see Galapagos sea lions. There is
great snorkelling from the beach and in the evening, stargazing
on deck.
Day 3
Darwin Bay and North Seymour Island
An early start today with a visit to Darwin Bay before breakfast.
A stroll along the beach enables you to observe hundreds of birds.
The more adventurous may snorkel amongst colourful fish and possibly
hammerhead sharks.
After lunch, spend time looking for Dolphins and Whales on the cruise
to North Seymour Island. Take a walk to colonies of Blue-footed
boobies, Frigate birds and Swallowtail gulls. The shoreline is plentiful
with marine iguanas and Galapagos sea lions.
Day 4
Santa Fe Island and Puerto Ayora
An early start will take you to Santa Fe Island. The bay on the
Northern coast is one of the most picturesque in the Galapagos.
Here, there is a large Sea Lion Colony. A walk along the trail takes
you through opuntia cacti, where large pale Land iguanas can be
seen.
After breakfast we sail to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. We
will visit the Charles Darwin Research Station and the giant tortoise
rearing programme. A bus ride to the highlands will take us to Narwhall
Ranch for lunch. Then there will be an excursion to see giant Daisy
trees, and twin craters followed by a trip to see Giant tortoises
in their wild habitat.
Day 5
San Cristobal Island
This morning we will disembark at San Cristobal Island. The port
of Baquerizo Moreno is the provincial capital of The Galapagos.
We will visit the breeding centre for tortoises at Cerro Colorado.
Other species endemic to this island are Mockingbirds, Lava lizards
and Vermilion flycatchers.
After lunch, at Stephen’s Bay, you can walk along the same
shores that Charles Darwin sailed and walked upon where he first
set foot in the islands in 1835.
Day 6
Punta Suarez and Gardner Bay (Hood Island)
After breakfast we will disembark at Punta Suarez. Walk along the
lava terrain and visit albatross and Masked boobie colonies. See
the ‘blowhole’ and take the trail to see Mockingbirds,
Red-black-green marine iguanas and sea lions. Or you can take a
dinghy ride along the coast.
In the afternoon, take a walk along the pure shores of Gardner Bay.
Here you can swim, snorkel, take a trip in a glass bottomed boat,
or just relax on the beach.
Day 7
Isabela and Fernandina Island
A morning walk at Urbina Bay, the home of large and very colourful
land iguanas and giant tortoises. Depending on sea conditions it
is possible to swim or snorkel. After lunch we will sail along the
Bolivar Channel where there are remarkable views of the Galapagos’
youngest Volcanoes.
In the afternoon we visit Fernandina Island beginning with a dinghy
ride to see Galapagos penguins and Flightless cormorants. Afterwards
