Argentina Los Glaciares National Park

Venture into the ice-capped wilderness of Argentine Patagonia. This park of 4,460 square kilometres is the second largest in Argentina and is covered by ice fields from which 13 major glaciers descend into two lakes, Lake Argentino and Lake Viedma. Close to the lakeside resort of El Calafate are several towering glaciers, which creak and moan as they deliver icebergs into the lakes below. To see this, almost within touching distance, is one of nature’s most incredible experiences. The Park is a popular with trekkers and climbers during the summer months. El Calafate is linked by road with Puerto Natales allowing easy access to Torres del Paine National Park in Chile.



Suggested Itinerary Glaciers Tour : 4 days/3 nights

Day 1 Arrive El Calafate
On arrival in El Calafate transfer to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure to explore this picturesque lakeside town.

Day 2 Perito Moreno Glacier Trek
Today begin a full-day tour to the World Heritage Site of Perito Moreno Glacier. Drive 80 kilometres through maginificent mountainous scenery before you reach the spectacular glacier which covers more than four square kilometres of Lake Argentino. Accompanied by an experienced guide, you will hike over its surface using crampons. Return by boat across the bay to view the front of the Glacier and hear the roar as large blocks of ice break off and float away as icebergs. Return to El Calafate. Box lunch is included.

Day 3 Upsala Glacier and Estancia Cristina
Transfer across Lake Argentino by boat past the stunning expanse of untouched beauty which is the Upsala Glacier. Later arrive at Estancia Cristina, an isolated ranch on the lake shore. Here you can take a walk or horseback ride in Los Glaciares National Park before enjoying a traditional Patagonian lunch. After lunch there will be a guided tour of the historic estancia which was one of the pioneering ranches with over 20,000 sheep at the peak of its existance. Return by boat to El Calafate.

Day 4 Transfer to El Calafate Airport.
