Located on the River Plate estuary
Montevideo has a distinctly European feel to it with wide avenues
and many parks. The historical old town can be explored easily on
foot. At the west end of the city is the international port and
at the east end sandy beaches, pine forests and posh residential
areas extending along the coast. Rambla Naciones Unidas proudly
traverses the entire waterfront and beaches of the city. Highlights
of Montevideo include the old city with it’s eighteenth century
buildings, the bustling Mercado del Puerto restaurant area and the
main commercial avenue, 18 de Julio.
