Estancia San Pedro de Timote
Located 150 kilometers from Montevideo and founded in 1854 this
one of the first farms in Uruguay. Spanish colonial style and declared
a National Monument in 1977.
Accommodations are divided between the historic main house and the
family guesthouse. Rooms have country décor and heating,
most have private bathroom. All meals are country style cooking
and served as buffets. Fireplaces are lit at night in the bar, dinning
room and multiple sitting areas.
Activities include accompanying the staff for their rural activities
of the day by horseback or by tractor and cart, fishing, soft trekking
and bird-watching. At night, you can join a photographic safari
where guests can usually watch interesting wild animals at close
range on the estancia. Facilities include two open air pools, one
indoor heated pool, spa and fitness centre, tennis and basket ball
courts, pool tables and billiards, table football and tennis, two
TV rooms, one with a 61" TV and DVD player.
Estancia El Charabon
A rural agro-tourism estancia, near the Atlantic coast and surrounded
by the Rocha hills. Located 225 km from Montevideo and 80 km from
Punta del Este. The estancia has a total of 950 hectares of which
150 are planted with eucalyptus trees and natural forestry. Breeding
of Hereford and Polled Hereford and wool-bearing Hampshire Down.
Visitors will enjoy beautiful views surrounded by streams, rolling
meadows and natural fields with a variety of typical flora and fauna.
This is an idyllic place for leisurely walks and picnics to enjoy
the natural surroundings. Comfortable and charming rooms. Playroom,
billiards, satellite TV, swimming-pool and barbeque.
Visitors can enjoy horseback riding inside and outside the establishment,
photo safaris and trekking. The estancia offers regional and international
cooking with excellent service personally supervised by the owners.
Guests can participate in cattle activities such as rodeo, branding,
milking and others. Historic tours are on offer to Santa Teresa
fortress, San Miguel Fort and Ombues Island. Tours also to the closeby
seaside resorts of La Paloma, La Pedrera, Cabo Polonio, Punta del
Este.
